Here are some DIY Ideas to give back in your own backyard:

Make Your Own Bird Feeder

These are great crafts to get young children to help with.  They also make great Christmas Gifts for the Grandparents, Teachers, Babysitters.

Build a Bat House or Condo

DYK – a little brown bat, one of the species we have in Alberta, has been reported to catch and consume 900 tiny insects in one hour (source: Alberta Environment and Parks)

Make a Bee Bath,

Better yet, make two and give one as a gift this Christmas – the only thing the recipient of this gift needs to do is add water!

Leave No Trace

Not just for hiking, but also your neighbourhood. Do something as simple as organizing a “pick up garbage in your neighbourhood” day – do something that will help Mother Nature, and in the process of doing so; you will help create the next generation of environmental stewards.

Happy Hiking!
