Emerald Basin

Yoho National Park

About the Hike:

You will require a vehicle to meet me at these trailheads.

Beginning at Yoho National Park’s crown jewel, Emerald Lake, this captivating journey takes you through the lush forests and awe-inspiring landscapes of the Emerald Basin. This family-friendly hike perfectly blends natural beauty, fascinating geology, and serene tranquillity. Ideal for adventurous families, this moderate family-friendly hike in Yoho National Park promises unforgettable experiences.

We begin our adventure by taking in the famous green waters of Emerald Lake, known as the crown jewel of Yoho National Park.

As we ascend, the towering trees gradually thin out, and the valley opens up into a stunning glacial bowl.

While Banff and Jasper National Parks may steal the spotlight, we believe Emerald Lake deserves its place among the most beautiful and accessible hiking destinations in the Canadian Rockies.

Elevation: 225 meters of gradual elevation gain.
Terrain: The terrain on the Emerald Basin trail includes hard-packed dirt, rocky sections, and a short but steep climb.
